DIVINE RIGHT HOUSING INITIATIVE

Welcome to the Divine Right Housing Initiative Program, where we believe in the power of divine stewardship and community service to transform lives and revitalize our neighborhoods. Our program aims to provide housing stability, economic growth, and environmental sustainability, all while honoring our firmly held religious beliefs.

The Divine Right Housing Initiative Program is a community-driven initiative that focuses on acquiring abandoned properties within our neighborhoods. Through the program, we repurpose these properties to offer housing opportunities for individuals and families who face challenges in accessing stable homes. By doing so, we address homelessness and contribute to the overall well-being of our community members.

The Mission

At the core of our program is the belief in divine stewardship and caretaking of the land. We recognize that the earth and its resources are gifts from a higher power, and it is our responsibility to honor and protect them. By participating in the Divine Right Housing Initiative Program, we embrace our religious freedom and exercise our beliefs through actions that benefit both individuals and the community.

It is crucial to make it clear that we are NOT seeking to acquire title, deed, or ownership, for the land belongs to God. He commanded that it not be sold forever:

- Leviticus 25:23, "The land shall not be sold for ever: for the land is mine; for ye are strangers and sojourners with me."
- Leviticus 25:34, "But the field of the suburbs of their cities may not be sold; for it is their perpetual possession."
- Psalms 24:1, "The earth is the LORD'S, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein."
- 1 Corinthians 10:26,28 "For the earth is the Lord's, and the fulness thereof."

We also use Luke 10:3-12 as scriptural support and as the foundation of our mission.

Our beliefs are rooted in the understanding that the earth and its resources are gifts from God, and our role is to be caretakers and cultivators, not commercial owners. This approach aligns with the principles of divine stewardship and the recognition of God's ownership of the land.

The Temple of Light & Life's outreach program is driven by the understanding that there is an abundant supply of vacant houses in America, which, when coupled with divine stewardship, can serve as a solution to homelessness. By leveraging these available resources and the teachings of our faith, we aim to make a profound impact on the lives of those experiencing homelessness.

As of the latest available data in 2022, the vacant house to homeless person ratio in the United States is approximately 27.4 vacant homes per homeless person . It is important to note that this ratio may vary across different states and regions. For example, Mississippi has the highest number of vacant homes to homeless people, with approximately 174.5 vacant homes per one person experiencing homelessness .

The Problem

Housing Placement and Support Services: The program will work closely with local homeless service providers, social workers, and healthcare professionals to identify individuals and families in need of housing. Through a comprehensive assessment process, we will ensure that those with the greatest need are prioritized for placement in the newly rehabilitated homes. Additionally, support services such as job training, mental health counseling, and substance abuse treatment will be made available to residents to address the underlying challenges contributing to homelessness.

Advocacy and Public Awareness: The Temple of Light & Life will actively engage in advocacy efforts to raise awareness about the abundance of vacant houses and the potential they hold in solving homelessness. Through community outreach, education, and collaboration with local and state officials, we will advocate for policies that promote the utilization of vacant properties for the benefit of those experiencing homelessness.

Sustainable Community Integration: Recognizing the importance of community integration, the program will encourage positive relationships between housed individuals and the surrounding community. By organizing volunteer opportunities, cultural exchanges, and educational events, we aim to foster empathy, reduce stigmatization, and promote a sense of belonging for all members of the community.

Benefits of the Program

Housing Stability: We provide individuals and families facing housing insecurity with access to stable housing, offering them a foundation for personal growth, well-being, and a sense of belonging.

Economic Growth: By repurposing abandoned properties, we stimulate local economic growth. Our program creates employment opportunities, supports local businesses, and contributes to the overall prosperity of our community.

Community Development: Through the program, we revitalize our neighborhoods by transforming neglected properties into well-maintained homes. This enhances the overall appearance of our community, attracts potential buyers, and fosters community development.

Environmental Sustainability: We promote sustainable practices by cultivating and caring for the land surrounding our properties. By doing so, we reduce waste, preserve natural resources, and contribute to a healthier environment.
